Blogging break

There's lots going on and I need time to get stuff done, so no blogging for me till Monday at least. I leave you with a hymn I've always liked. And with some random pictures I like too. Click for bigger versions and tell me who's in them if you can! If you want a hint on the last one, count fingers. :)

All the way my Savior leads me;
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy,
Who through life has been my guide?
Heav’nly peace, divinest comfort,
Here by faith in Him to dwell!
For I know, whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well;
For I know, whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well.

All the way my Savior leads me,
Cheers each winding path I tread;
Gives me grace for every trial,
Feeds me with the living Bread.
Though my weary steps may falter,
And my soul athirst may be,
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! A spring of joy I see;
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! A spring of joy I see.

All the way my Savior leads me
O the fullness of His love!
Perfect rest to me is promised
In my Father’s house above.
When my spirit, clothed immortal,
Wings its flight to realms of day
This my song through endless ages—
Jesus led me all the way;
This my song through endless ages—
Jesus led me all the way.

What a trial... five beautiful religious paintings with no clues other than the boy Jesus at work and a six fingered saint. Will Monday never come?

Can we have a classical music quiz next time? When it comes to art I am exactly like that famous observer, Hans Georg Schultz:
"I know nothing – NOTHING!"

I know the first one is Jesus as a boy with St Joseph. The last one I think has St Thomas Aquinas

4th photo is St Francis kneeling

Jim, the problem is I wouldn't know enough about classical music to write a quiz!

Ya'll are right about Jesus and St. Joseph, and about St. Francis.

Hint on the last picture: it's not St. Thomas Aquinas; check out the triple tiara at his feet.

Hint on the third picture: the man at the top of the stairs is dressed as the Jewish high priest.

Hint on the second picture: it's a bishop pardoning a Roman emperor.

I wouldn't get any of them if I didn't already know. :)

The triple tiara is that of a Pope. I know that the last picture is one the Popes Sixtus. I think it is Pope Sixtus II. It might also be Sixtus I since he is also a saint.

I think the readers, lurkers, and posters are beginning to feel some anxiety - caused by a lack of Infused Knowledge...

the last pic is known as the Sistine Madonna. Madonna and Christ Child in center. Pope St. Sixtus (martyr) on left. St Barbara on the right. Cherubs below
