If you remember the 70's, tell me...

...did gangs actually dress in costume like this?

And the "High Hats"-- no way will I believe any gang affected that dress. Least scary gang ever. How would they not get laughed right out of town?

I think I'll perm my hair to mushroom shape, bat my eyes seductively, and utter the immortal line, "We know about the Warriors. They're a heavy outfit!"

I've always liked cheesy stuff. :)

Warriors, come out to play...

One of my all time favorites. I wanted to be one of the Orphans.

I remember riding the subway in Baltimore and thinking to myself that it would be a matter of minutes before I had an encounter with a warrior-like gang.

I find this unrealistic portrayal of gangs in some ways consoling. Perhaps this means that when films and tv also misportray the Church and its members that they aren't doing it out of malice but out of a general, totally pervasive, impenetrable ignorance. Somehow that is consoling in a sad kind of way.

Like the character in the film says: "Can you dig it?"

What a great, great move. I went to see it with my high school buddies when it came out. We were wearing our uniform high school windbreakers, so we decided to call ourselves The Bishops from that day forward!!
