Nice quote from Johannes Bengel

He was a Lutheran, 1687–1752, and he said this about studying the Bible:

"Te totum applica ad textum, totum textum applica ad te."

Which means:

"Apply the whole of yourself to the text; apply the whole of the text to yourself."
